Frequently asked questions

What is barre?

  • Barre is a full body training that is a fusion of pilates, yoga, strength training and ballet. The aim of barre is to build muscle endurance, strengthen and lengthen the body and to do so by using movements and props that are gentle on the joints, which makes barre accessible and adjustable to all fitness levels. Read more on barre here.

  • Due to the low impact but high intensity nature of barre, this type of training is accessible to any fitness level and experience, including recovery from injury! The benefits of barre go beyond the physical as our coaches truly incorporate working on the mindset during the classes and by providing a safe and open space for your fitness journey - wherever you may be on it. Our wonderful trainers who are 100% Team You, will guide and support you to bring you the most benefit from barre. As an added benefit, we have grown a wonderful community, and it’s always nicer to move one’s body with great people around!

In short: you should do barre because it’s great for the body, great for the mind and you’ll have great support from professional trainers as well as an awesome community to share space with!

  • Barre is strength training that goes easy on the body, but you will for sure feel energised by moving to good music. Your trainers are there to support and push you, but never over the limit. Expect to have your limiting beliefs challenged while you work both on your body and your mindset. Movement is scientifically proven to significantly improve mental wellbeing, so happy hormone heaven is an added benefit of our barre classes. Even if you might want to curse at us after a third or fourth set of pulses during the class, you will work up a sweat (with the exceptions of BarreRESTORE and BarreSTRETCH) and leave empowered, strengthened, and lengthened.

Barre classes

  • Start with our BarreSIGNATURE class. It's our most popular class and it’s perfect for newcomers. Read more about the different types of barre classes we offer here.

  • We would recommend wearing comfortable but form-fitting clothes. Leggings or shorts with a workout top or a t-shirt are the best choices. Barre workouts are done without shoes on. Socks are a good option, but you can also be barefoot if you prefer. We also recommend bringing a towel and some water to stay hydrated. We provide all the equipment and mats used in class, so no need to bring your own.

  • In order to get your class credit back, you need to cancel 24 hours before the class starts. Please see our policies here.

  • Yes! Since barre is a low impact workout, it is great for women who are pregnant, but also post-partum. Some of the classes may include movements that may need to be modified to be suitable for pregnancy or postpartum. Our trainers are happy to discuss any adaptations you may need. Please consult with a medical professional on the types of exercises to avoid or modify to make sure your individual pregnancy or postpartum journey is taken into consideration when doing exercise of any sort.
